About Marthas Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard is an Island located to the south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. The Island is made up of the 6 small towns of Aquinnah (formally known as Gay Head), Chilmark, West Tisbury, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Tisbury (which includes the village of Vineyard haven.

Traveling to Martha's Vineyard will require a boat, plane or the most popular way to cross the ocean is by ferry and the Steamship Authority is one of the most popular ferry service in the area.

Martha' Vineyard has been a favorite vacation destination for the rich and famous for generations including President Bill Clinton and the most recent high profile visitor has been President Barack Obama has the First Family. You don't need to be royalty to visit Martha's vineyard, with plenty of accommodations, restaurants and beaches to choose from.

Chappaquiddick is a small island attached to the Vineyard and is part of Edgartown, in July of 1969 U.S. Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy drove off the bridge that coneected the small Island which resulted in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.

In 1974, Steven Spilberg spent the whole summer filming the movie Jaws on the island and waters of Martha's Vineyard. When the movie was released in the summer of 1975, it changed the way people entered the ocean for a swim forever.

Actor John Belushi is Buried on Martha's Vineyard in the town of Chilmark. Although his body was moved to a nearby location, his grave at Abel's Hill Cemetery remains a popular place for visitors.

When you visit the Island you will find many natural beauties to enjoy from biking and hiking to bird watching and taking photos of the Aquinnah Cliffs, or ever-changing beaches.
