JAWSFEST: The Tribute

This three-day fan-centric event will explore the experiences, filming, and memories from the making of JAWS. Our tribute will concentrate on the men and women of JAWS who have passed, with special focus on Peter Benchley, Roy Scheider, and Robert Shaw. We are inviting fans, families, cast, and crew to join us to share their personal stories, memorabilia, and experiences. This event will explore how the making of JAWS has impacted the lives of those who came to Amity in 1974 and how the blockbuster film they created continues to impact lives today. In conjunction with Shark Savers and Discovery Channel Shark Week, JAWSFEST is putting together a significant shark conservation component that includes shark experts, marine conservation biologists, and artists coming together to create a comprehensive Sharks, Arts, and Conservation exhibit.

Osprey, Red-tailed Hawks, and Barn Owls are just a few of the raptors that soar above Felix Neck. Find out the important role they play in the islands ecosystem. This session includes a trip to the World of Reptiles and Birds. Investigate the natural world while discovering science and environmental stewardship. Explorations include hiking, nature experiments, games, and more. Each session includes snorkeling on Sengekonkatcket Pond and a Thursday night camp-out with Friday morning pick up at 9am, no camp on Friday. Using scientific methods and equipment, campers will learn about the water quality of the fresh and saltwater ponds at Felix Neck and explore the concepts of water cycles and watersheds. Campers are involved in inquiry based projects that introduce the methods and techniques that scientists use to study and interpret nature.
